This is not the complete show, and is missing Me & My Uncle, Hard To Handle, 
Cumberland Blues, Black Peter, and Dark Star>St. Stephen in the span between 
High Time and The Eleven.  The missing songs are quite possibly missing from 
the vault reels as well.   This is the first known version of New Speedway, 
which has some very off-key harmonies, ----that sound as if they are almost 
intentional and sarcastic  ????.

Most currently circulating CDR copies of this show have either the beginning or the concluding couple minutes of "Cold Rain & Snow" cut and are also missing the beginning of "China Cat Sunflower".  This version has these defects corrected using a 2nd gen cassette source.

Not much is still missing at the beginning of "Casey Jones".  On the circulating copy the "Dark Star" cuts right after the end of the 2nd vocals and splices to the beginning of a chorus of "New Speedway Boogie".  During this time period "New Speedway Boogie" usually ran an average of about 08:30, so it seems likely a solid 4 minutes is missing here, plus possible jamming after the Dark Star vocals.  Probably there is more music on the master than is represented by the heavy-handed edit of the circulating version.

Before "All Around This World" Garcia answers a request from the audience:  "Hey it's not my fault if you watch TV, man.  I know lots of people who don't watch any TV at all."

It is possible that this is not the complete show, though it would be likely 
that only one or two songs may have preceded Black Peter.   There are 
definitely some rough spots that vary throughout the recording (especially 
Black Peter), but it is overall very listenable for a show from a cassette 
master.   Mason's Children was patched in from an alternate source (unknown 
lineage bootleg) as the primary source suffered from tape warble during this 
song.  It is apparent that noise reduction was performed digitally on this 
song at some point on the secondary source, though the integrity of the sound 
does not suffer greatly.  The pitch from the primary master was corrected 
using Sound Forge.

Black Peter comes in before the lyric "...just then the wind..." and is 
therefore missing a couple minutes or so.   Good Lovin' cuts out just over a 
minute into the drum solo, obliterating several minutes at least.    The 
first half of Cold Rain is missing as well.   

This is a loud and very rowdy show, prompting some priceless banter from the 
band.

This is a composite of two sources.  A master cassette provides the portion 
from Black Peter up to the drum solo of Good Lovin' as well as the last 
couple minutes of Lovelight.   Possibly a monitor mix, the master cassette 
portion varies in quality, most notably degrading in Black Peter and the end 
of Lovelight.     A reel recording provides the end of Good Lovin' through 
most of Lovelight.    

It is possible that this is not the complete show, though it would be likely 
that only one or two songs may have preceded Black Peter.   Sound Forge was 
used to normalize, correct the pitch of the master cassette portion, and 
patch together the different sources.

CDR was then ripped to the Hard Drive with EAC in secure mode, amplification to 100% in Cool Edit 2000. Poorly placed track markers corrected with CDWave then transferred to shn using mkw SHN. Discs written on a Digital Research 24x burner using Nero.

Caveat:
This sbd is on the muddy side, and it's quite possible that there is more to this lineage.   
 
Notes:
--The Other One cuts out during the 2nd verse, presumably seconds before a segue in the Cryptical reprise, which is completely missing
--Cosmic Charlie cuts in shortly after its beginning
--Feelin' Groovy Jam in Dark Star starting at 17:08
--probably several minutes at least are missing off the end of Dark Star.  It is not known whether it segued directly into Alligator, or a different song that is now missing formed the bridge, or it could have come to a dead stop before Alligator was started.   
--only the last few seconds of the first Alligator remain.  
--Sound Forge was used to correct the pitch of the recording and boost the amplitude for this seed. I cannot be sure, but I believe the previous shn seed is also from the same source and is therefore about a quarter step flat regarding pitch. If you aren't sure whether you have a pitch corrected copy, check against the timings listed on this seed.

Deadlists Comments:
Comments Total time [2:38:18 +]. The circulating soundboard cuts just as the Other one's last vocals are ending, and resumes immediately afterward near the beginning of Cosmic Charlie. Though it's missing on the tape, it seems almost certain that they went on to play the Cryptical reprise before transitting into Cosmic Charlie. Since this reprise varies from 2 minutes to 12 or more, it's difficult to say how much music is missing here. Dark Star cuts as they are gliding down toward the second vocals; probably around 3-4 minutes are missing before the end of the tune. After this cut the tape splices to the tag end of Alligator. It is usually assumed that the set ran Dark Star > Alligator, but this is a short set as the circulating tape runs, even after adding 3 minutes of Dark Star and 4 of Alligator, and it seems possible that more than that is missing here. There is a tape flip at 1:40 into the following Drums, but little is lost here. In the Jam in 8s out of the Eleven there are hints of Caution and of the Other one, but just hints. The Eleven analyzes: Drums > Eleven Jam [6:50] > Eleven vocals [0:41] > Eleven Jam [2:32] > Eleven 2nd theme Jam [1:02] > Jam in 8s ...

Most tracks were edited to eliminate between songs chatter and 
tuning using DART Pro98 and then trimmed to correct CD sector 
size with EAC's WAV Processor. The intro on d1t1 was trimmed
and the level raised to match the band's level.

All files were normalized to 98% and corrected for DC offset 
with EAC's WAV Processor and then checked for noise with 
DART Pro 98.
Noise was removed with DART Pro98's retouch tool if possible.

 1. removed a bit of noise from d1t01 (left channel) at 1:50.224
 2. reconstructed audio to fill a gap in d1t01 at 3:46.375 to 3:46.395
 3. removed click from d1t02 at 0:0.014
 4. removed click from d1t06 (left channel) at 0:31.790
 5. removed noise from d2t01 at 3:40.580 to 3:40.605
 6. removed noise from d2t02 at 0:9.295 to 0:9.306
 7. removed click from d2t05 at 1:21.306
 8. reconstructed audio to fill a gap in d2t05 at 4:47.551 to 4:47.725
