For trades: I strongly prefer to receive shows as SHN or FLAC files unless a SHN or FLAC source is unavailable.

I am happy to burn audio CD-Rs for you if that is what you prefer, but note that for shows whose "media" is SHN or FLAC, I specify the number of discs for SHN or FLAC, not for audio (which often requires an additional disc or two). Please check with me for the correct number of audio discs. I always burn audio discs at 4x or slower.? I can now burn DVD-R and DVD+R media.

For DAE, I use EAC in secure mode. Shows for which I have done the DAE and SHN or FLAC encoding have "(My SHN)" or "(My FLAC)" in the notes field.

I can easily convert between FLAC and SHN per your preference.

Basic trading etiquette:

• I verify all md5 checksums for your SHN or FLAC discs before I send them.
• I identify your discs by including a slip of paper in the disc sleeve. I never write on your discs.
• I always send discs using first-class postage and a (probably reused) bubble mailer.
• For B+P: Please send discs in sleeves, not plastic jewel cases. For return postage, use stamps or international postal reply coupons, Do NOT send printed postal meter strips. Refer to http://mcnichol.com/bnp for useful B+P guidelines.

I always trade disc-for-disc (the dominant cost in this hobby is generally postage). Note that I am happy to pack SHN or FLAC discs as full as you'd like them, e.g., if you pick a 2-disc show from my list and see some other small thing(s) that look interesting, I can add those as filler to the 2nd SHN disc, or combine several smaller shows onto one disc, or combine two 2-disc shows onto three SHN discs (few "2-disc" SHN shows really fill both discs), etc. For shows whose size is well under a single disc, I try to include the size (in MB) in the comments field. If we are trading DVDs, why not have me fill up those 4+ GB discs with as much as I can? Likewise, I welcome any filler you want to add to SHN/FLAC discs you send me.

All of the CDR blanks I use are 700 MB (and for now, all are unbranded Japanese Taiyo-Yudens). My DVD+R blanks are unbranded printable Taiyo-Yudens (I don't have a disc printer; I like the protection of the white coating.)
