Greetings.

New to etree, but not to trading. The plan is that as of now (Aug 2005) all new additions will go into this here list, while most of the older stuff will stay on that there list (www.geocities.com/stefanhautke) You might be interested to take a peek there, too.

I?m in Germany, that cuddly home of great beer, friendly smiles and outrageously high overseas postage rates. To make the most of the latter, I kind of like to trade in hunks of 4, 12 or 25 discs. When asking for a trade, please state your location, it helps me decide. In case you?re very far away, a trade in flac/shn format on DVD-R might be an option. Otherwise, good old CDRs are usually good enough for me.

I?m trying to do moderate amounts of trading, so may not always be up for a swap. Have had periods of overdoing it, you probably know what it?s like. Nice?n?Easy Does It, now.

When contacting me, make sure to put ?trade? or something like that in the mail header and not just ?hi there?, because else your email will go the way of those offering marvelous pharmaceutical products, software discounts and large quantities of cash to be relocated from Nigeria. Also, please do not send attachments unannounced. Note that the mail address is obf? obtfs?orbstf?hidden. You?ll have to replace ?_AT_? with ?@? and ?_DOT_? with ?.?, otherwise believe you me it will not get all that far.

Some rules I would definitely reinforce, with all due respect:

You contact me, you send first. If I contact you, I?ll be happy to send first. Use good quality discs: TDK, Sony, Verbatim, Kodak, Fujifilm (Japan) are just fine with me. Please do NOT send me BASF, Maxell, Memorex, Imation, Fujifilm (Taiwan) or generic discs. I will chuck ?em in the trashcan immediately and ask you to resend. I will be sending TDK or Sony. Extract to your harddisk using EAC. Don?t use ?On the Fly?. Burn DAO at low speed. Put the discs in paper sleeves along with a piece of paper identifying the show. One disc per sleeve. Don?t write on the discs or the sleeves. Please don?t stick post-its on the discs, I?ve had them peel off the silver layer on occasion. Stick discs in bubble mailer. Send. That?s what I?ll do too, natch.?

Sound quality is of course, you guessed it, subjective, but lately I feel some guys have been stretching things. If I receive another ?A? type recording that sounds as if the mike has been stuck face down into a bucket of sand and subsequently toyed around with extensively, I shall be very, very upset. Of my ratings, a ?B+? is what I still consider?perfectly listenable/enjoyable, and if your ears are anything like mine, you probably will, too. B would maybe only appeal to completists, B- to fetishists, C to masochists.?

What else? Oh yep. Nothing here is for sale.?

At present, I?m looking for (more) Hans Reichel, Lol Coxhill, Steve Lacy, Evan Parker, Roland Kirk, Shibusashirazu, Eyeless In Gaza, Martyn Bates, Ed Kuepper, Ivor Cutler, Albert Marcoeur, Guernica, Peter Blegvad, Slapp Happy etc etc?

Happy Hunting,

Stefan
