Track Info: WJUL Studios - University of Lowell, Lowell, MA, USA Source Info: Clone of Fallout Shelter Bootleg (STU > ANA > CD>CDR>FLAC) (lossless CDR trade 2003) Length:42:47 Sound Rating: 8.5 Sound Comments/Faults?: Significant tape hiss, sound quavers a little at times. First few seconds of #12 have been cut. I got this show as one track which I have split, but I assume it is a clone of the Fallout Shelter bootleg. Show Comments: Apparently the tape was sped up marginally as they were playing out of tune. Therefore explaining why Black's vocals sound a little different to those on later recordings. A little surprising to see that Subbacultcha took 5 years to get an official release..! During the 9 min interview he introduces himself as "My name's Charles Thompson and I'm the singer and the rhythm guitar player in the Pixies". |

Comment | "The Fallout Shelter" At the time of this recording, the Pixies were playing only small clubs in the Boston area (The Rat, The Bat Cave, Green Street Station, etc.). They have released no recordings but "I'm Amazed" and "Down To The Well" are in circulation among small local radio stations. "If you absolutely are dying to get a hold of a tape, come to one or our shows and talk to the manager", says Ann Holbrook (the manager). |
