First, Prince was guitarist and backing vocalist to Shelby J, and they played for 35 minutes, her vocals alternating with his guitar solos - it was as if Prince was a member of his own support act. Then, after a five minute break, began a 60 minute 'proper' Prince set. It was heavily biased towards the new album, with a couple of oldies chucked in - When You Were Mine, Anotherloverholenyohead - and a blistering 11 minute jam built around 3121. As with all the aftershows, it's not about what gets played, but how it's played - some fairly unpromising material really comes to life here - and I loved every second of this show. Hope you enjoy the recording... A side note: because the division between the sets was so marked, I've split the discs between Shelby J's opening and the main Prince set, but this makes CD1 37 min, and CD2 60 min, which may not be to everyone's taste. I've faded and cut the encore break before 3121, which could also serve as a disc break - CD1 78 min, CD2 19min. As in all things, it's down to you.
