||** NOTES **||

Critters got started late as a long soundcheck/monitor mix set them back. 
I just can't get over how cool those string arrangements by Eyvind Kang are! 

At the end of the Critters set, they took a 5 minute break and came back with the all star jam. For this jam, they had 5 drummers on stage with 3 full drum kits!!   Mike D, Matt Chamberlain, Stanton Moore, David King (The Bad Plus) and Tor Dietrichson on percussion (Seattle old-school percussion legend). The other musicians who joined on stage included Steve Moore on Trombone (Skerik's Taint), Ben Ellman on sax (Galactic), Ronnie Pierce on clarinet (who is incidentally father of Harry who wrote Taint's "Let me be your Voodoo Doll) and the legend Lee Oskar on Harmonica!   Ronnie Pierce was having a great time...but clearly doesn't know the song Zombie.  Zombie which always has the makings of an incredible jam, fizzled after a long clarinet solo that took the song in a different direction.

# Zombie which usually results in a long ass wicked jam, sort of fizzled...Ronnie Pierce apparently isn't familiar with the song, but his big band style solo was still pretty cool.

Notes on Audio Processing:
After spinning the original seed of this, I found it difficult to listen to. The room was very boomy and not only was there a really loose bottom end, the mids got burried beneath the boominess. The dynamics of the recording were also so great that one would have to crank the volume to hear the between song introductions, etc.  I used a C4 multi-band compressor to reduce boominess (below 50hz) and also compressed the mids/increased the gain to clarify the vocals and saxiphone. 

There was no EQ used, all frequencies still exist they are simply shuffled a bit "in the mix". The end result I believe to be a nice listenable experience. I hope you agree and approve.

Elizabeth Pupo-Walker joined Critters Buggin adding some percussions at some point mid-set.

The Sex Mob jam was awesome and included a full round robin cast of
characters. The set at various times included Hunter, Previte, Marco, Skerik, Elizabeth Pupo-Walker, Jessica Lurie (welcome back to Seattle!)and Mike D (beating the shit out of Matt's drumkit!!!). It was cool to see Briggan Krauss back in Seattle again and Steven Bernstein is a nut! He was running around the stage like a madman directing traffic. At one point he picked up a folder of sheet music and walked around passing it out as if he was saying, "hey guys lets try this bit I wrote last night"!
