The mic was in the back of the room (per Kaki King's taping rules) and picked up a lot of chatter 
during some of the quieter songs, but sounded pretty good during the more intense stuff.

Bass roll off was not used but should have been, as there was some serious PA-honking during
the first few songs - please forgive this oversight.

Ended up getting tons of wind noise even with the large neumann windscreens. Used the audience track only as able for crowd response. Lots of edits were made to top and tail the songs. Kaki's ovation had a fair amount of noise floor. I opted to apply some noise reduction with Wave's X-Noise. Artifacts are audible, catch 22 tradeoff.

Notes:
The sound quality on this gets a B. There is a bit of whirring from a vent or
something, a little quiet chatter here and there, some microphone clunks.
Otherwise, the band sounds very nice. Her band on this show is Dave Archer on
keyboards, Matt Henkle on drums, and Dan the sound man on occasional trumpet. I
recorded this from the lower balcony on stage left, about 10 feet from the
stage. There are a lot of A+ audience and soundboard recordings of Kaki
available, but I didn't see any mics at this show, and the new stuff is really
heavy. Also, tape flips occur at the end of tracks 06 and 12. There's a fade
between tracks 11 and 12, as that's when disc one ends.

This was recorded with Zoom PS-04 Palmtop Studio (single built-in mic, mono) onto PNY SmartMedia 128 MB cards. Transferred direct from PS-04 into Audigy SE Soundblaster, tracks split and disc made with Magix Music on Cd And Dvd. Wav made with Roxio Easy Media 8, flac with Flac Frontend.

The sound quality on this gets an A-. It's nice and clear, but I cut the crowd applause back a little at the end of each song. The recorder sat on table 2, dinner seating. This was the early show. The disc change occurs after track 8. Dan Brantigan plays flugelhorn on track 08, and Bora Yoon plays violin on track 12. Another highly enjoyable Kaki show. Peace!
