Here is the story I know. Whiskeytown were on the Outpost Records label, which was under the Geffen Records umbrella. Promos (factory pressed cdrs) of LP3 were pressed up with generic artwork and sent them to magazines for reviewing. After they were sent out it was decided that the mix was not correct and Outpost/Geffen recalled them. Most came back, but a few got missed. Then Outpost went under from a Geffen merger and the album was shelved until Ryan and Ethan Johns dusted it off, reworked, remixed, and reassembled it to what we now as Pneumonia. Many people who heard this mix early on highly prefer this mix. Listen and make up your own mind.
