Venue notes:
A very small setting is the Clipper with a seperate dining room that resembles a train car, in a neighborhood with clubs in spitting range varying from Punk/Metal to Hip-Hop. Pabst Blue Ribbon flows from the tap or you can buy it in a can. The stage is obscured by a makeshift mirrored room which supports an elevated soundboard. Perhaps this comment by Peter on the following nights accomodations at Neumos in Seattle explains it best: "I cannot emphasize enough how great it is to have a dressing room that is something more than a closet with four hundred sets of cocks and balls scrawled on the walls." Good times.
Show notes:
John played the set barefoot and very willing to improvise. This is the last night bassist Peter plays his "ten-year-old red Mexico-built Fender Jazz with a small gash in the bottom, a big Swedish vehicle ID sticker on the back, and a Barack Obama for U.S. Senate 2004 campaign sticker on the front". Too bad. It sounded sweet. The "low-e" breaking turns out to be a score for fans of both the Goats and Billie. A real gem of a night. The Double and Sarah Dougher opened.
