I use high position Maxell XLII blanks for optimal sound quality. I do not use dolby N.R. or high speed dubbing . I set the input levels at about 4 or 5 when dubbing, depending on where they peak. Another thing I always do is to completely forward and rewind side A of the new blank before dubbing. This creates better tension in the tape and makes for a better recording. Please do the same for me. Some of the more brief timings you may see such as 10 minutes are usually used to fill space. They might just be one song. Some of them are from composites such as the Dead 76 rehearsal tape which totals 90 minutes. I will tell you about anything that is not complete before making your tapes. The grading: A=excellent B=good or very good C=ok but not recommended
