CD Trading Guidelines
Media: I am currently using unbranded 80 min 16x Verbatims (blue dye). I usually trade with branded media, but if you've got name-brand discs that don't have a logo on it, I'm usually fine with that, too. My usual brands used for trades are Kodak, Mitsui, and Verbatim. (All gold, silver, or blue dyes respectively.) If you plan to use something else, please let me know when we set up the trade. I'm usually cool with it!
Shipping: Please don't use the "fiber-paper" mailers when sending discs -- the fibers can scratch the discs and also damage your/my CD Writer. If I receive blanks in these, I simply send the discs back un-burned. I mail discs first class in 6" x 9" bubble mailers. There are many more options for mailing CDs and if you choose to use another method, such as priority, then I will do the same. First class is the method I normally use since it is the most efficient cost-wise.
Cases: I prefer not to send cases with trades because there is no reason for your and my cases to be damaged. Instead I send the discs in sleeves. Do not write on or mark the discs for any reason. Instead, to know what discs are what, I cut index cards in half and write the band, date, and disc number (e.g. 2 of 4). Then I put this info card on TOP of the CD in the sleeve.
DAO: Please use disc-at-once when recording. I think that almost all burners now have this feature, but there may be a few TAO's floating around still.
Sources: I'm not interested in anything that comes from a non-digital source or that contains a non-digital lineage. This includes analog, mp3, etc. In some cases non-digital is acceptable when there is no other alternative, this includes older shows or artist that just aren't taped much. Please send the complete source as you know it with the discs, I prefer to have as much source info on the show as possible.
B&P's: I will gladly do B&P's for anyone if my schedule currently permits, this is all the time except during tests. But, I no longer will do B&P's for Phish. There are enough people out there that trade nothing but Phish and their shows are easy enough to come across. It is the smaller bands that need help spreading their music, and I enjoy B&Ping for them.
