CD Notes:
This new title by Empress Valley uses a brand new uncirculated tape of the April 2nd, 1973 show at the Palais de Sportes in Paris France. Previously circulated was an almost complete but horrible sounding source. This tape is in excellent stereo. It begins very overloaded and distorted (the recorder's levels weren't set correctly!), but then settles down to a very enjoyable sound. It sounds very similar to the excellent source for the Offenbach show. Unfortunately it isn't complete. The final verse of Rain Song is cut, and Dazed begins with the second verse, and the whole medley isn't complete. We can't have everything. But otherwise, this is an excellent show worthy to be the closing night of their amazing European Tour. The discs come in a thick cardboard booklet with interesting liner notes written by 11 Aquarius. (Gerard Sparaco Nov 2001)

Vive Le Zeppelin (Empress Valley Supreme Disc, EVSD-75/76)

Disc 1: Rock And Roll (cuts in)/Over The Hills And Far Away/Black Dog/Misty Mountain Hop/Since I've Been Loving You/Dancing Days/Bron-yr-Aur Stomp/The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song (53.21)

Disc 2: Dazed And Confused/Stairway To Heaven/Whole Lotta Love (second half cut) (49.34)

Packaging is a hardback gatefold booklet cover and limited to 300 copies only. Both CDs are held with 2 black card wallets and between them are detailed liner notes in English and Japanese. Front and rear covers have images of the band at the show. Inside the front cover is a small picture of the tour poster and a photo of the show ticket. The packaging could have been so much better. The recently surfaced, better sounding but incomplete, different source tape of the second Paris concert on 2nd April 1973, in very good sound. A good fairly well balanced tape. A longer tape is reviewed in the Lewis Pallett book Led Zeppelin : The Concert File which has a more complete Whole Lotta Love Medley and Heartbreaker. It is a pity that this was not used to make this release as complete as possible. (Brian Damage Dec 01)
