This tape originates from NJ whose name I had seen in old copies of 'Terrapin' so I asked the late Bernard White for his address. I contacted him in the early 90's and he sent me this tape which was the only part of his master remaining. I subsequently made a DAT copy of a cassette that was 'doing the rounds' labelled Aberavon. This additionally included STC and was from the same source, this was of unknown gen, but was given to me to transfer as a 2nd gen copy, although I have no evidence of this. I seem to recall that yyz a member of this forum was involved in lending this 2nd gen tape to a mutual friend so he may have some additional info. There is a 3rd tape of lesser quality which appeared briefly some years ago with a bit more content and also a small snippet of ASOS on 8mm film.

***Littlepieces' Mastering Notes***
This is a mono recording that was processed as two channel stereo. The left channels output is generally 1.6db higher than the right and the recording has a small phase shift of about 4 samples most of the time. The level of the first 70s is lower than the rest of the recording and the entire recording is running a bit fast.

I manually aligned the channels to correct the phase shift, increased the gain of the right channel 1.6db, adjusted the speed, and removed a few noises. Other than the 1.6db gain increase in the right channel, the gain of the first 70s was not increased in order to match the level of the rest of the recording. The magnitude of the increase would have required the reduction of a significant hiss increase in order for it to be mostly transparent and that sort of process is not appropriate for a release of this nature. It's interesting to note that on the first 50s of the common 2nd gen, the left channel is almost completely dropped out.

Of course, like all versions of this recording, it has some overmodulation/distortion during the higher output segments, but it is a definite improvement on the common 2nd gen, clearer and with less hiss. Unfortunately, as noted, this transfer is missing STC.

The correct order for the concert is: Astronomy Domine, Green Is The Colour, Careful With That Axe, Eugene, Interstellar Overdrive, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, A Saucerful Of Secrets.

01. [03:06] Green Is The Colour
02. [09:16] Careful With That Axe, Eugene
03. [12:33] Interstellar Overdrive
