Technical issues that were repaired:

The recording equipment had transport issues and there would be a series of dropouts when each new reel was started.
For the first few minutes of each tape there are gaps about every second (think 5 " reel turning once at 7 1/2 ips).
chunk chunk chunk chunk chunk chunk.
There were also dropouts throughout the tape but not as many as the beginning of each reel.
The sound was lacking in bass frequencies and howling in the mid-range.
Similar issues affect many recordings from this source.
These tapes have been relegated to storage boxes all these years because of the quality issues.
Now with iZotope RX and Har-Bal these issues were corrected.

This time Har-bal was used to adjust the frequency balance to get a smoother sound.
The wave files have been reviewed with headphones to find the dropout gaps which were then patched in from the opposite channel or nearby content.
At this time the loudest claps between the songs were reduced or removed.

Some of the bumps and bruises of this tape can still be heard if you listen close enough.
There were hundreds of repairs but some noises certainly slipped by.
The tape was flipped between "You Really Got Me" and "All Day and All of the Night" and the break was spliced together but some is missing.
The other tape flips were during applause and some audience noise was moved around and inserted to reduce the abrupt breaks.

That's the technical stuff and these are the things that were fixed for this project so they won't bother you.
Even knowing this background info you would likely agree that this tape sounds great for its time.

This concert really shows how good the KINKS were back then.
Loved the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium!
Enjoy
