Comment | Tut Taylor – Dobro, mandolin
Norman Blake – guitar, mandolin, vocals Sam Bush – mandolin Butch Robins – banjo Charlie Collins – fiddle Mitch’s notes: Tut Taylor Archive Reel #286 features the tail end of the second set of music by Tut & Friends at Nashville’s Exit/In, followed by several songs from headliner, John Hartford (with Tut & Norman sitting in for a few songs!), on October 3, 1973, per Tut’s notes. The tape is sounds to be from the second set, and starts off with some fine multi-mandolin pickin’ on “Midnight In Beanblossom” and “Old Joe Clark” from Tut & Friends. With a few rough cuts aside, Hartford’s “Steam Powered Aereo Plane” and an instrumental version of “Late Last Night When My Willie Came Home” with Tut & Norman kick ass. Wow!! ‘Nuff said. See Tut Reels #276, #277, #280, #281, #282, #283, #284, and #285 for other Tut & Friends recordings made at the Exit/In during a run of shows from 10/2 – 10/6/73. |
