J-Card Comment | It's my master recording of SD in Denver 1994. It's not one of my better recordings, for a variety of reasons (see below). Check the sample. I do not have fond memories of this concert whatsoever. I have struggled with a long love-hate relationship with SD that I think most of you can relate to. How many times do you fall in love with a band when they come out, only to see them start moving into a direction that you you do not like, but actually loathe? I fell in love with SD when My Old School began playing on the FM airwaves in the early '70s. I bought Countdown to Ecstacy, loved it and really liked the next LP Pretzel Logic and tour. And then, for me, it all went to hell when SD started moving into that commercial, pop sound. Obviously, I'm in the minority as this new music really brought the band to the forefront, but I justsimply hated the new sound (and still do). So, I decided to go to this reunion show, in hopes that I would hear the old SD sound again. And they did play a few early tracks, only to replace some guitar parts with saxaphone, and other goofy things. So, I'm not digging the show, and even worse, I had terrible seats. So, you can hear me say to my buddy that I was going to try to find a better taping location, as the second set started. I ended up just walking back and forth across the horizontal walkway that separates the two main reserved sections - security hassling me several times to return to my seat - what a nightmare. Anyway, this is what I came out of the show with. There are volume and sound quality changes throughout, but this is the master recording with no EQ. Have fun |
