J-Card CommentUploaderÕs Notes: This is a fresh transfer from audio cassette tape. This performance was previously shared on DIME in 2010 (snatched 120 times) with the following lineage: Unknown Generation Audio Tape > Computer Hard Drive (1995) > CD Wav split tracks > CD-R > FLAC (2010). The same source tape was used for this one. However, this version skips the CD-R rip. Also, the tracks are split at different time intervals than they were with the original upload. In addition to the FLAC files this upload features custom artwork and a scan of the show flyer. During the second track entitled ÒBanterÓ - Adam (MCA) Yauch alludes to the concert violence/riots that occurred the prior year when the Beastie Boys were on tour in California (August 1986) as part of the Raising Hell Tour with Run DMC and Timex Social Club. On August 17, 1986 - before the Beastie Boys took the stage - fights broke out at the Long Beach Arena, in Long Beach, CA. Reports followed that 42 people were stabbed and one audience member was killed. This violence prompted cancelation of next nightÕs performance - which would have been at Hollywood Palladium on August 18, 1986. It is likely the cancelation in 1986 influenced Run DMC to make a guest appearance at this show.
Tech NoteUnknown Generation Audio Tape > Computer Hard Drive (2017) > tracks split with izotope > FLAC (2017)
