There is no synthesizers, no syrupy soprano saxaphone, no blistering guitar licks, nor catchy repetitive bass lines. This is straight ahead jazz, the way it was played in the mid-sixties on Verve and Blue Note. I have to give this admonition because straight ahead jazz, like dixieland jazz, is a rarity these days.
