I felt it was full of energy, and I agree with travelinbeat: the chemistry between Pixies new touring bass player Paz Lenchantin and the rest of the band seems right. That said, I saw them play Bowery Ballroom in September 2013 with Kim Shattuck, and things seemed fine too! Recordingwise: I had a near heart attack when during the support act Fidlar I connected all pieces and realized that nothing was coming through from the mics/Bbox to the recorder. In panic, I ran off to the bathroom, and after messing with it all for a while recognized that the battery in the Bbox was dead. So I made the decision to go with raw Mics > Recorder making sure that the levels were under control. Later, I checked the tape out not quite knowing what to expect and was shocked how clean and non-distorted it turned out!! It's not clear to me at this point that WITH the Bbox it would have sounded any better! But we will never know :-) So I guess I'm glad I DID NOT know that travelinbeat was at the venue - I would have dropped the experiment :) and this tape wouldn't have happened!
