Charles: Vocals, Guitar
Kim: Vocals, Bass
Joe: Lead Guitar, iPhone Slide on 06
Dave: Drums, Vocals on 24

Performance Notes:

It's difficult to believe that these guys have been reunited for 7 years already and have been on the road performing their
seminal classic album "Doolittle" for over two years. This sold out show was an unscheduled fan e-vite concert (sounds kind
of exclusive) during the tail end of their "Lost Cities Tour". The band made it a point to play in cities that they had
never played before. California stops included Bakersfield, Napa Valley and Santa Cruz. Pretty neat. After a rocky start
with an abandoned "Bone Machine", the band found their groove during "U-Mass". They played a blistering 31 and a half song
set culled from their entire catalog including a scrambled set of "Doolittle" (of course), a Neil Young cover and a few
b-sides thrown in for good measure. Ms. Deal was adorable and affable as usual. After the trainwreck start of "Bone Machine"
the band stops after Kim's chorus; Frank turns to her and says "What happened?". She replies with a smile "It sounded good.
We're doing great!"

Recording Notes:

Drunken d-bag three people to my left was shouting in his girlfriend's ear throughout the first half. It's mostly prominent
during the quieter "Caribou". Fortunately, Frank's screaming was louder most of the time. I don't know if he sealed the deal
or not before they left. I hope she dumped him for destroying the concert-going experience for her and the others around him.
Still a solid recording. I had to move slightly right during "Debaser" as a quaint little mosh pit opened to my left. Other
than that, the Saturday nite crowd was a bit tame. Strangely, I had to boost about +4dB L / +6dB R as my levels were set a
little low. Not too much S/R noise though. A nice crunchy sound throughout.

Highlights:

Joey using his i-Phone to play slide on "Vamos", then using one of Dave's sticks to flog his poor Les Paul. It was a "Hendrix
channeled through Gill" moment. Also, Kim saying goodnite to the band a la The Waltons during "Gigantic" . Too cute!

Of Note:

I hope that these guys find some studio time together before they get sick of each other again. Oddly enough, they've been
reunited longer than they were originally together.

Dedicated to:

My brother for buying the tix for my birthday and for doing some serious blocking for me amidst some crowd-surfing. You're
the best!

Oh yeah, if you like these bands the came afterwards and made shit loads of money...

Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer and Foo Fighters etc..

You may or may not like The Pixies. ;-)

Please support the artist by attending one of their live shows or purchasing one of their t-shirts or nifty key chains. It
