This year on Rawa Blues we can enjoy to see and hear James Blood Ulmer with his band Memphis Blood featuring Vernon Reid. It's worth mentioning that they'll play together only on Rawa Blues Festival in Poland.

James Blood Ulmer, born in 1942 in St. Matthews, South Carolina. In the 70s he met Ornette Coleman, whose music made a great impression on James. Ulmer is often mentioned as the most original guitar player since Jimmy Hendrix, and his free-jazz blend of improvisation with sharp dancing rhythms are told to be the most important step in jazz since already mentioned Coleman. Ulmer himself doesn't like such a comparisons...

Vernon Reid born in 1958 in London, but grew in New York. He is known mainly for Living Colour. Except for that he recorded a few solo albums, and often records with other artists among various genres, including: Jack Bruce, Bill Frisell, Public Enemy, Rollins Band, Tracy Chapman, DJ'a Logic czy DJ'a Spooky and others. It was Reid who produced and played on three high rated blues albums of James Blood Ulmer.
