From the liner notes: In order to promote on the radios their new album "Out of Time", the REM came to Europe in March. During this short tour they performed live only three time: once in Milan as REM and twice in London using the pseudonym of "Bingo Hand Job". In reality, there should have been only one concert at the Borderline of London the 14th Marce exclusively for fans but the tickets have been all sold out to the public. Then, the day after, they added a second concert for the press and the guests of consequence, surely a great deal finer, longer and intense concert than the previous one: one of REM's best concerts. The London shows were started be the Chickasaw Mud Puppies (a band produced my Michael Stipe). Then, after a sequence of songs proposed by REM, they've been reached on the stage by their friends: Peter Holsapple, Robyn Hitchcock, Billy Bragg who alone or together proposed a series of sets of pieces written by them. In addition to the extraordinary quality of the music, the atmposphere in these concerts has been really relaxing with continuous gags and exchanging of instruments between the players (to the notice the horrible exhibition of Michael Stipe at the keyboard). Interesting pieces have been performed the first evening - Thursday 14th March - like "Dark Globe" of Syd Barrett, a new piece of REM "Bemjamin Caroline Triangle" The Second evening - Friday 15th March - an extraordinary cover of Troggs' song "Love is All Around" sung by Mike Mills and a-cappella version of "Moon River". This CD contains the best moments of the evening of the 15th March and the acoustic concert in Milan.
