The Commodore Ballroom Vancouver, Canada December 13, 1995 "Brainwave Brothers Remaster" Edition February 2005 Format: Flac (level 8) Size: 426,4 MB (+ 2,6 MB cd cover) Disks: 2 Source: SBD Lineage: Cassette(?)->CD-R(?)->Pro Tools->16-bit WAVE->Audacity 1.2.3->16-bit AIFF->FLAC (level 8) BACKGROUND: This is basically an upgrade of a show which needed audio restoration work. There are at least three other versions with the same intention as this one - to up the quality level of the original source. The "Extended Remix" edition was used as a basis for this edition, and despite having very low levels, extreme tape hiss and other quality issues it was the best-sounding version of the show out there. So far. The work done by the Brainwave Brothers to make the edition at hand includes: Pro-Tools: 1. Phase change, right channel. 2. Waves X-Noise for tape hiss removal 3. Waves R-EQ for EQ. A low "Q" curve was used to offset loss of higher frequencies. 4. Waves L2 for limiting. 5. .wav export Audacity 1.2.3: 1. Track transition work 2. .aif export x Act 1.4b21: 1. FLAC lossless compression (level 8) PLEASE NOTE: Sound is subjective. The processing of this recording represents some loss of audio information, even though the show sounds better than ever. Also, don't expect a level of quality comparable to the king of Disco Volante-tour soundboard recordings, the New Orleans show from December 2nd 1995. You will hear some artifacts due to noise reduction, especially in the very low level parts of the show. The louder songs sound a lot better, but there is light distortion from the original tape here and there. Also, slight tape fluctuation issues. If you're a lossless purist, stay away. If you're a music fan, get this. The performance is fantastic!
