Comment | The Tubes were: Fee Waybill - vocals Bill Spooner - guitar, vocals Michael Cotten - synthesizer, vocals Mingo Lewis - drums, percussion Prairie Prince - drums Roger Steen - guitar, vocals Vince Welnick - keyboards, vocals Rick Anderson - bass Re Styles - vocals "productions were choreographed by Kenny Ortega and featured cast members Jane Dornacker, LeRoy Jones, Michael Holman, Michael Springer, Edwin Heaven, Cindi Osborn, Heline Gouax, and Mary Niland from 1975-1977" The stage had 5 TV sets on pole stands, one higher up than the rest. Most of the show, they showed the band, but the middle one would come on with the announcer or Quay. Any voices that are not the band, are from the TV. Before the show they played clips from entries to the talent search contest. L.A. Connection was the winner. Not really fair as they are a comedy group that has been around since the 60's. They did this exact scetch on the Dick Cavett show with Janis Joplin doing one of the voices. They ask each person to choose any sound to make, then a conductor will point at them like a instrament in an orchestra. To create a human voice orchestra. And yes I would have prefered to have the Tubes show complete, and left this out. I didn't tape this show. There is so much going on in this show that "What Do You Want" is a tame song. The Sex Ed scene starts with the hail hail R&R intro playing so theycan do the set change and move a school desk and blackboard on stage, and each of the everyone brings up a school chair/desk, so when they get to "Ring Ring goes the bell' the house lights come on and the stage is now a school class room. They are drawing lewd pictures on the board when the teacher struts her way into the room. Fee and her get things warmed up for Don't touch me there, where she is spread out on the school desk. He ripped her dress off, and they start "Mondo Bondage" girls in leather bondage suit come out on the Go-Go girl walkway the Whiskey has, and they grab chains from the ceiling to look like the are chained up there. and the stangest thing was a rubber screen at the top of the stairs, a girl in a bodysuit came out and did the bump and grind above the audience pressing against the rubber screen. Kinda looked like a wet dream. And "white Punks" starts with Johnny Bugger, spitting beer from these tiny Coor's cans on the auidence, two guys down in front start a fight with Johnny and the end up pulling him off the stage, all you see is shoving, and fists, as the drag him to the front door of the Whiskey. There is a small hall before you get out to the street, he used that to change into Quay. |
