Tech NoteDISCLAIMER: this is NOT a normal blu-ray-resolution disc as people would expect reading out of the title. this is a normal dvd resolution-set (720x576 / 720x480) being put on a single layer blu-ray but with higher video bitrates than dvd standards do allow. there is no need for any up-or downconverting when working with vhs capturing through DV format allready working in DVD resolution! this project has been in the works for many months and at points it seemed we couldn't finalize it! but we did!! the main idea has been: fitting the whole ~150min show from the best quality sources available on one single layer disc with high video bitrates and LPCM sound! thanks to Blu-ray technology we're now able to do this! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- credits first: - illusion GN'R camp! - the Show VHS provided by the brother from "JARL", thanks to his family for borrowing the best quality video source we've seen circulating so far!!! the colors are just amazing! - all other VHS tapes are coming from the "LIMULUS"-collection. he also did all the transfers, editing and encoding! - all final Blu-Ray authoring done by the one and only "GNROSAS"!! 2 requests: - NOT to be sold! - ANY nice upgrades and uncirculating quality "Guns N' Roses"-sources! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GN'R June 06, 1992 - Hippodrome De Vincennes, Paris, France opening acts: Soundgarden, Faith No More setlist: 01) "Veronica" TV Channel Introduction 02) Intro 03) It's So Easy 04) Mr. Brownstone 05) Axl Talking #1 06) Live And Let Die 07) Attitude 08) Bad Obsession 09) Always On The Run 10) Axl Talking #2 11) Double Talkin' Jive + Slash Solo #1 12) Voodoo Chile (Intro) + Civil War 13) Wild Horses 14) Patience 15) Axl Talking #3 16) You Could Be Mine 17) Piano Intro + It's Alright 18) November Rain 19) Band Introduction + Matt Solo 20) Band Jam + Slash Solo #2 21) Blues Jam 22) The Godfather-Theme 23) Sail Away Sweet Sister/Bad Time (Intros) 24) Sweet Child O' Mine 25) Welcome To The Jungle 26) Only Women Bleed (Intro) 27) Knockin' On Heaven's Door 28) Mama Kin 29) Train Kept A Rollin' 30) Don't Cry 31) Slash Talking + Mother (Intro) 32) Paradise City 33) Outro -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INFO / Sources and Transfers Video - The Show (151:01min / 13,7gb): TV ("Veronica TV" June 06, 1992) -> unknown vcr -> dutch PAL VHS Master (mono) [Jarl's brother] -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> StraightWire Mega-HDS (SVHS out/in) -> DV/PC some intro mixed in from: TV ("Premiere" June 06, 1992) -> unknown vcr -> german PPV PAL VHS Master (stereo) (TDK HIFI (Extra High Grade) 180 [SP Modus] [Limulus]) -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> StraightWire Mega-HDS (SVHS out/in) -> DV/PC editing: Video centering / 4x black border adding / (NO colour editing!) / 2pass encoding @ Maximum: 27850 Average: 13000 Minimum: 11000 result (Bitrate Viewer Version 1.5.054): Peak: 16546 Average: 12688 Audio (LPCM): #beginning before the intro: dutch PAL VHS Master (mono) [Jarl's brother] #main parts: TV ("Premiere" June 06, 1992) -> unknown vcr -> german PPV PAL VHS Master (TDK HIFI (Extra High Grade) 180 [SP Modus] [Limulus]) -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> SONY DAT TCD-D7 -> POC-DA12p (optical cable) -> PC/WAV -> dED + #Westwood One stereo silvers -> EAC (secure, offset corrected) -> WAV/PC -> dED [LALD, Always On The Run, Piano Intro/Its Alright, Blues Jam, Godfather-Theme, Don't Cry] + #circulating stereo 2DVD-R (JM78) AC3 -> WAV -> dED [Bad Obsession; DTJ (3/4), Train Kept A Rollin', Outro (last part)] basically there has never been a complete perfect stereo source circulating from this show. this stereo VHS source has the best sound overall but also suffers from lots of trouble, the main trouble parts have been edited out by using the other 2 stereo sources (though the Westwood One being some weak quality, the other one being some lossy). however the final audio is nice stereo in general but still has lots of small trouble. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paris'92 Intros (3:27min): Video: TV (MTV Europe) -> various PAL VHS-Masters/gen2 (Limulus) -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> StraightWire Mega-HDS (SVHS out/in) -> DV/PC Audio (LPCM): TV -> various PAL VHS-Masters/gen2 (Limulus) -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> RCA Out/In -> DV/PC -> WAV -> dED (NO Equalizing!!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paris'92 Post-Show (9:15min): Video: TV (MTV Europe) -> unknown vcr -> PAL VHS Master (mono) (TDK HIFI (Extra High Grade) 240 [SP Modus] [Limulus]) -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> StraightWire Mega-HDS (SVHS out/in) -> DV/PC Audio (LPCM): TV (MTV Europe) -> unknown vcr -> PAL VHS Master (mono) (TDK HIFI (Extra High Grade) 240 [SP Modus] [Limulus]) -> JVC HR-S9600eu (Playback) -> RCA Out/In -> DV/PC -> WAV -> dED (NO Equalizing!!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paris'92-Rehearsals / Interviews (32:35min): Video: 1Cam MTV PRO (archieves) -> NTSC VHS2 (stereo) (TDK (Extra High Grade) 180 [SP Modus] [Limulus]) -> JVC HR-S3500u (Playback) -> StraightWire Mega-HDS (SVHS out/in) -> DV/PC Audio (LPCM): 1Cam MTV PRO (archieves) -> NTSC VHS2 (stereo) (TDK (Extra High Grade) 180 [SP Modus] [Limulus]) -> JVC HR-S3500u (Playback) -> RCA Out/In -> DV/PC -> WAV -> dED (NO Equalizing!!)
