J-Card Comment | **SNIVLLE NOTES** VIDEO QUALITY: (9/10) Excellent remastered VHS transfer. Originally, the colors were somewhat "washed out" looking. Typical VHS grain and flicker were especially noticeable on the distant shots. This is no longer the case. The picture quality of this show comes very close to that of a quality laser disc transfer. AUDIO QUALITY: (9/10) Excellent stereo sound with good balance and dynamic range. This release recently underwent the process of being remastered with Professional-grade video editing software. The incredible NeatVideo filter was used to denoise and apply high resolution enhancement to the footage. NeatVideo goes far beyond the capabilities of most freely available denoising filters. It uses a series of computationally precise algorithms that enable it to apply 'intelligent sharpening' without inducing any unwanted halo-like effects. The final product does not result in softened imagery. The original source not only had a considerable degree of VHS noise, it also was very "washed-out" looking. This is no longer the case. Black levels were increased by 7 percent (without affecting white levels and the middle gamma color range). General color and contrast corrections were applied, giving skin tones and other elements a more natural appearance. Color saturation was increased by 25 percent to bring out richer color vibrancy in the stage lighting, clothing colors, etc. The edited footage was then frame-served from within the NLE (non linear editer) directly to CCE 2.67 SP and encoded at a high bitrate of 6630 kbps with advanced vertical filtration and high quantization enabled. Unless you are lucky enough to find a digital transfer or a Master SVHS dub from off of the original broadcaster's reel, I believe that you will find that this version is one of the best. To maintain the highest picture and sound quality possible, it was necessary to cut some of the non-essential material. The pre-show footage and also the subsequent interview were removed from this release. I have plans of incorporating the footage that has been cut with (3) complete Ozzy videos as a "Bonus" disc sometime in the future. This release has undergone extensive digital processing. This release is the 3rd revision of the project. The first two encodings of the concert looked great, but I wanted to make sure that it reached optimum restoration results. The PC that was used to complete this project is only a 3.06 Ghz. P4 w/ HT and 1 GB of Rambus memory. The video processing, in particular, was very CPU intensive and took a considerable length of time; about 86 hours in total. It is my sincere wish that my all of my fellow traders will enjoy this newly "Remastered Edition". Many thanx to Steinar for the source. Ozzy Osbourne - Vocals Zakk Wylde - Guitars Geezer Butler - Bass Randy Castillo - Drums It is an unfortunate fact of "video-geek" life that there are only 240 lines of resolution inherent in VHS recordings. This number can obviously not compare to the 540 lines of resolution seen in commercial DVDs. The motivation behind all "Snivlle Remastered Edition" DVDs is not to compete with commercial DVD quality; rather, it is to get older VHS footage as close as possible to the quality of SVHS and Laser Disc. ** SNIVLLE'S REQUEST: ** If you share or upload this DVD, please keep the original information intact and unaltered. If you want to alter or convert this concert to a different format (eg. DivX/Xvid), please DO NOT advertise it as the "Snivlle Remastered Edition".
