Notes:
- This is probably the "final cut" of this particular show.
It is quite possible there can be no new transfers from the master tape, because of the poor condition
of the tape. This DVD is edited together from the 2 DVDs that John made & circulated back in 2007.
Since then the condition of the tape has gotten even worse.
- Here's a quote from John who did the transferring:
"...the Master Tape ended up being left in a basement of a good friend of mine for over a decade.
I remembered he had the tape and since we had lost touch I got online and found him. One phone call and the tape was back in my possession the next day!
By the time I got the tape back it had mold issues from his moldy basement. When I got the tape back and wanted to transfer it the tape was so "dirty" that after about every ten minutes of play he screen would go fuzzy. That was due to the mold or whatever was on the tape. So, I'd have to pop the tape out and then clean the heads and repeat and repeat, etc. I had a few VHS machines here at the time. The first couple of attempts at transferring the tape went badly. Too many stops and starts and fuzzy screens! I think I played the tape (stopping and starting all the while) several times. Then the tape seemed to play pretty well. I guess all of the mold/dirt/whatever was sticking to the heads on the VHS, in essence "cleaning the tape". At the point when I figures I could get a good pass through the whole tape I switched to a different VHS machine, as I did not want to use the one that was collecting all of that scum on the heads (even though I was cleaning them every ten minutes)! I was amazed that it all worked out and the picture and sound turned out pretty nice. I really did not think it would work out.
...At this point (2013) the tape looks horrible! Useless. I just took a couple of pictures of it for you. Notice the "white stuff". That's the mold!"
- Pictures of the tape and John's letter from 2007 are included in this torrent.
- Whistlin' Banshee is cut short by the person who filmed this show, so there's nothing we can do about that.
- As said this is the best transfer that John managed to do, but still there is part of video missing at 26:10-27:10 mark.
The screen goes blue but at least the sound remains.
- Despite the condition of the tape, the hassle of transferring and the difficult ripping/editing/authoring,
I think the end result is excellent!
So, turn it up and enjoy some nice Deli Creeps tunes!!!
thanks,
Jone
