The 350 seat Iao Theater opened in 1928 as a vaudeville and movie house. During World War II, people like Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra entertained the troops here (according to Wikipedia). We can now add notables like Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers to the list! Some notes about the recording: Short raps immediately relevant to the upcoming song are included as part of the song. Longer raps have been separated as their own "banter" track. The vocals were mixed somewhat low. In fact, "banter" track 12 has Ray talking about vocals volume and rock music. The false start to Hurricane is because Ray's microphone stand fell over a number of times and he needed someone to come up on stage to re-balance it. |
