Clarence ?Gatemouth? Brown, Ike Turner & the Kings of Rhythm, Ruth Brown, John Mayall, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Al Kooper and Michelle Shocked highlighted the eclectic lineup of more than 80 blues artists that performed for five days in 2002. The festival, held from 5 to 10 pm July 3, noon to 10 pm July 4, 5 and 6, and from noon to 9 pm July 7, attracted 120,000 fans, who donated more than $310,000 and more than 115,000 pounds of food to the Oregon Food Bank (sugg. don. was $5 and 2 cans of food). In addition, the Oregon Potters Association raised more than $21,200 through its Empty Bowls project. More than 1,100 volunteers helped run the festival. Gate closed the festival on that Sunday night with this burning set, played from about 8:00 to 9:10 pm. Gate also performed at least once earlier in the week, sharing the stage with Michelle Shocked for a few numbers; that set is not in circulation to my knowledge.
