Notes: This was the 10th gig of the European tour in June/July 2012 introducing their new album Noctourniquet almost in its entirety (9 out of 13 tracks), this time with only 5 people on stage. The Paradiso show is a great performance of the band, though they had to fight against a lot of technical problems, e.g. Deantoni's bass drum mic was contacting the plastic covering on the bass drum, provoking a slapping noise, so "surgery without anesthesia" (Cedric) was needed a couple of times. During Broken English Jam, Omar's guitar went way out of tune and he started playing the tuning pegs, until he got to some really gnarly, dissonant tuning, looped up a passage, and then switched out guitars. Cedric's mic had a feedback for several times (Dyslexicon e.g.). The extended sections for Trinkets and Jewel were both amazing. Besides the Noctourniquet songs (unfortunately they did not play the title track) they only played two songs from their former albums, but the closer Goliath got a face-lift and was performed in a very relaxed and jazzy version. I have to mention Marcel's keyboards (in lieu of Ikey Owens), because during the Amsterdam show you could hear them pretty loud (Dyslexicon e.g.). Again the band's newest drummer, Deantoni Parks, was amazing to watch, he and Juan were a solid rhythm section you could not elude. Cedric's vocals were enjoyable, even if he was struggling with some high notes. Another thing to mention are some crazy effects on the vocals. Recorded from the balcony, I started at the center, and while trying to adjust the volume, I was already annoyed by the guys in front of me talking a lot. So after The Whip Hand I moved to the left side, but the crowd there was hardly any better, so crowd banter can be heard in-between songs and during quiet parts and even during loud parts. Plus the sound at the venue was not ideal (at least on the balcony), so this is reflected in the recording, still it's enjoyable to listen to. Cover art is included, feel free to use it or post something you made. Visit the Comatorium (http://forum.thecomatorium.com/forum/) for reviews, pictures and more from the show. Please do not convert the recording to mp3 or other lossy formats unless for personal use. And please do not sell. Enjoy!
