Comment | "Let's Get Rockin'" may have been the opener, and not "On Fire" as per JBTE, which apparently was spliced in from somewhere else. Speaking of which, the correct date is June 29, 1976 and not "June 1, 1976." Van Halen had a three night run at The Starwood in late June of '76--June 28, 29 and 30. This is a great, relatively speaking long club days show featuring early renditions of the songs we love, a complete "Let Me Swim In Your Ocean" with the big drum solo in the middle, a guitar solo with parts that Eddie didn't do after 1976, and a preview of the "Story of Joe" which would be told at most of the 1979 shows. The great thing about these shows is that Dave prattles away between the songs and explains the idea behind a lot of them. For example, "Babe, Don't Leave Me Alone" and "Eyes of the Night." |
