Festival (Shoal Creek Bluegrass Festival), Shoal Creek Country Music Park, Lavonia, GA, July 30, 1978, and features: 1) American Music Express (the Raybon family band, including Marty Raybon, Ken Raybon, Tim Raybon, Rick Raybon, & Ed Heard); the introduction and very start of their set is at the end of Cassette #185, 2) two songs from an unknown group that might be South Carolina's, The Hired Hands, (featuring famed fiddler Homer "Pappy" Sherrill, Harold Lucas, and some hot banjo picking on "Whoa Mule" from his young son Randy Lucas who was later to be the National Banjo Champion in 1997 at Winfield after finishing second in 1996 and third in 1995; banjo legend Dewitt "Snuffy" Jenkins joins the band on washboard for "Down Yonder"), 3) The Boys From Indiana (Aubrey Holt-guitar, Tommy Holt-mandolin, Harley Gabbard-Dobro, Dave Evans-banjo, Glen Duncan-fiddle, & Jerry Holt-bass), and 4) Bill Monroe & His Blue Grass Boys (Bill Monroe-mandolin, Kenny Baker-fiddle, Butch Robins-banjo, Wayne Lewis-guitar, & Randy Davis-bass). |
