Paul's Boutique Release Party
Capitol Records Building (Rooftop)
Hollywood California USA
On July 25, 1989 the Beastie Boys released Paul's Boutique on Capitol Records. This torrent contains previously uncirculated footage of the record release party held atop of the Capitol Records Building. Following the party, the Beastie Boys participated in a short interview.
Paul's Boutique is considered by many to be their favorite Beastie Boys album. However, due to several reasons the album did not fare well commercially. Regardless of low sales numbers, the decision was made in 1990 to venture out and promote the album by doing a few record store appearances and live shows. While in Miami, Dallas, Boston, Atlanta, & San Francisco the Beastie Boys performed at small venues. These live sets were short and included 2 songs from Licensed to Ill combined with 4 songs from Paul's Boutique. No concert recordings from the Fall 1990 tour have ever surfaced. Therefore, footage such as this, the Soul Train appearance, and a few Yo! MTV Raps segments are all that exists from this much beloved period.
If you have any concert recordings of the Beastie Boys from the 1990 tour, I would love to hear them. Also, if you have any ticket stubs, posters, handbills, or flyers from this long forgotten tour...I'd be interested in seeing scans of 'em. |
