On an average, they all sound good to very good, no disappointment here! This was the first tour in Italy in Steve's solo career, only two months after Gabriel's first appearence in the country. By that time, Genesis hadn't played in my country for five long years, with two more to come before thwy would hit the stage in the peninsula. So these tapes hold a lot of memories because they were the bulk of my Hackett live collection. I did not see that particular tour but it sounds great, probably the best Hackett tour ever, promoting 'Defector' album. Also, being the very last dates of the tour, the band was in very good shape, even attempting to play new numbers such as Air-conditioning Nightmare. As you will see the setlist is quite stable. Sometimes an extra encore would be added (Please Don't Touch), sometimes not. After Roma Steve decided - after much pressure from the audience - to perform I Know What I Like while removing both Sentimental Institution and It's Now Or Never (how can one possibly play a cover of a crappy italian popular song translated into english for an italian audience? Mystery to me...) which got booed massively by the audience. |
