He hadn't performed in Santa Barbara in a little over a year and this show was vastly superior to that last performance at SOhO. He still messes up a little, but the touring over the past year seems to have made him a stronger performer--not only with his voice, but with his guitar and piano playing as well. It was also great to finally hear something from Olias Of Sunhillow performed live (wow!). I was located underneath the right speakers and there was a stage speaker right in front of me facing the crowd, but my recording levels were still too low. I amplified it a bit, but you still might have to crank it up. I also had to do a quick fadeout at the end because when I stood up to applaud, it resulted in some bad static noise. Jon didn't say anything further, so nothing was lost except for a lot of well-deserved applause. And if burning to cds, the suggested split is between "Owner" and "piano medley." |
