Note | SNAKEFINGER a.k.a. Philip Charles Lithman & The Vestal Virgins
- November 18, 1983 - Diskothek U4, Vienna, Austria ** analog "Ö3 - Musicbox"-FM broadcast, 1st. generation tape, MWM 0187 ** >> "HISTORY OF THE BLUES"-TOUR with OUTSTANDING 8-PIECE BAND - AWESOME ! UNCIRCULATED ! << w/ samples WHAT ?? Snakefinger ? The Residents' favorite guitar player ? SNAKEFINGER (Philip Charles Lithman) was a long time friend and collaborator with The Residents and his brilliant and distinctive guitar and violin work can be heard on many of their major releases. In turn The Residents played on and produced his first recordings for Ralph Records. After the initial success of his "The Spot" single many great albums were to follow, "Chewing Hides The Sound"," "A Manual Of Errors," "Greener Postures," he was also a staple with The Clubfoot Orchestra, and I think that some of the players on this LP hailed from Clubfoot as well. He died 1987 of a fatal heart attack at age 38 while touring Europe with his band The Vestal Virgins on the same day that a single was released from his "Night Of Desirable Objects" album. It was called "There's No Justice In Life." MUST BE: Category -> Avantgarde NO -> BLUES... BLUES ???? Yepp, it's true...and it was one of the best, if NOT THE BEST BLUES BAND in the 1980ies... |
