Note
Another great performance by Jon and his first solo show in San Luis Obispo. I think he did a show to promote The Promise Ring in 1997, but to
the best of my knowledge, that performance was not open to the public. So this was technically his first public San Luis gig since the Yes shows
at the Fremont in 1996. Jon seemed in good spirits at the Spanos and it was amazing to hear "To The Runner" live again and his vocal during "State
Of Independence" is always such a stunner.

The crowd was a little sedate, but they had a lot of enthusiasm for clapping and standing during "Roundabout." There was a bit of isolated clapping
at the beginning of "Count Your Blessings" that might sound like light popping, but it's not (it was a person behind me). There are also minor
sounds from people shifting in their seats, sniffling, coughing, etc. Jon's mic also reacted more to hard consonants and picked up his movement
as he changed between instruments, as well as a few bumps. Because of the acoustics of this particular venue and the respectful audience, all that
extraneous noise probably ended up louder than normal. And the reason there are two versions of "O'er" is because Jon developed a dry throat and
restarted the song after getting a drink of water. So I tracked the restart separately.

I think this recording turned out a little better than my Santa Barbara one from two nights prior. The sound seemed to be cleaner at the Spanos,
which helped considerably. And while I knew to raise my recordings levels a lot higher this time, it still turned out low and I had to amplify it
just a little bit. So you might have to turn this one up. And if burning to cds, the suggested split is between "piano medley" and "The Light Of
Love."
