Note | Keith Emerson & Greg Lake
Lynn Memorial Auditorium, Lynn, MA April 11, 2010 Set 1 (42:41) 101 From The Beginning (6:48) 102 story (1:08) 103 I Talk To The Wind (5:23) 104 story (2:53) 105 Bitches Crystal (5:38) 106 Take A Pebble (3:46) 107 Tarkus (17:02) Set 2 (63:10) 201 story (1:58) 202 C'est La Vie (4:58) 203 Prelude To A Hope (5:15) 204 story (6:10) 205 America-Rondo (8:31) 206 Q&A with audience(10:37) includes Emerson noodling riffs from Karn Evil 9: 1st AND 3RD (!) Impressions beginning at 5:52 207 Pirates (16:05) 208 Lucky Man (9:33) note: slight low end overload from 7:37-7:43 TT: 105:52 Keith Emerson - keyboards Greg Lake - vocals, 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, bass Recorded from the balcony, Row 15, just right of center (people were scattered sparsely throughout this part of the balcony - nobody was within 10 yards of me in any direction!) The mighty Moog really rattled the place, and even with a 100hz roll-off (and ample headroom on my meters) the recording distorts a little bit near the end of 208 Lucky Man source info: SoundProfessionals SP-BMC-3 (mounted in croakies)> Edirol R-09HR(24bit/96khz) through mic input, low sensitivity, 100hz filter> Peak Pro 5.2 for editing and tracking; MultiDynamics VST>FLAC (level 5) For this recording I decided to use a VST plugin WaveArts MultiDynamics to give a little more presence to the original recording (see enclosed jpg for settings). As always, please don't distribute in lossy form. FLAC encoding with xACT 1.62 at Level 5 md5 checksum generated and verified using checkSum+ 1.5 for Mac show notes: this was the 5th gig of the Keith Emerson & Greg Lake tour of the United States. Four of the early gigs were postponed, so this should have been the 9th gig. From my perspective, this was a *much* tighter gig for both guys; Emerson was in greater command of the difficult keyboard parts, and Lake's singing and playing was outstanding. The acoustics of the theater were excellent, and this recording was made in the balcony about halfway up, and without ANY noisy crowd around me. It was nice to go to a section which had empty seats and record unobtrusively and without disturbance. |
