Comment | There is no track list since it's the story of Moby Dick. At the end of the show there is an interview with Anderson and the cast.
Laurie Anderson wrote in the program notes that the genesis of her new show, Songs and Stories from Moby Dick, was a proposed series about classic books for high school students. From this she created a multi-media piece based on Herman Melville's Moby Dick. In the production, Anderson emphasized Melville's writing (rambling sentences, lyrical poems, re-configured Biblical references, lapses of iambic pentameter) and narrative style (constant shifting of character voice) thereby revealing an epic tragedy worth rediscovery. |
