On this one there are wickedly fast versions of Black Train and others. You would think that Jefferey Lee was being chased by the devil himself or that this was a Bad Brains show. The pace at times is reckless, and the vocals become frantic. It's surprising the songs don't derail themselves. Somehow they manage to stay on track. There is some self admonishment at the end of the 6th track where Jefferey tries to exercise some of his demons. Reconciliation or catharsis? I noticed while transferring this there were a couple of weird fade outs. They don't detract from the overall recording. There's also some weird effects (feedback) with the guitar and microphone on Sex Beat and Sleeping in Blood City. Personally, I would compare the music of the Gun Club to the sinous windings of a river running through a swamp. There's a beauty to it and you never no what's around the next bend. Enjoy.
