J-Card Comment | Morbid Angel - Live at the Manning Bar in Sydney, Australia May 28, 2011 Source/Lineage: Core Sounds Cardioids (pointed towards stage to minimise crowd noise) -> Sony PCM-M10 (line-in, 48kHz 24 bit) -> Soundforge 10.0b w/Izotope Ozone 4 Mastering Plugin (mastered and downconverted to 44.1kHz 16 bit) -> FLAC Level 8 Recorded, mastered and processed by: Yours truly ... Starclassic. Location: First level on riser behind dancefloor, stage right, close to soundboard. Notes: Holy shit the brutality never ends!! A great show which was never expected to be anything less. My face melted off in their presence with every note struck. The sound was really good here and the sound guy was someone who has been traveling with the band the world over, I'm sure. I'm not saying that because of his American accent but more the point that he knew the songs and knew when to push the guitars up for their solos and whatnot. Overall, a fantastic job from a guy who took his job seriously and did it with love. In fact, I have so much respect for this guy that I had to add a little nugget from the soundcheck. I won't say anything about it. You'll just have to hear it for yourself. :) All that said, I'm still not overly happy with the outcome of the recording though as I was wrestling with people wanting to yap away but what can you do eh? I'll give this one a C but I have a sample attached for you to hear for yourself. They didn't play much of the new album but it wasn't disappointing nor stale by any stretch. Their new drummer is quite the machine and while I have no qualms with Pete Sandoval, this dude ran rings around him that night. Despite my usual rants about the sound quality, enjoy! ...and please, don't sell this bootleg, otherwise you're just plain old scum. That and Vincent will remind you just how divine pain can really be. |
