| Note | Both concerts, which took place on the second North American tour, will be recalled among the most turbulent of the "Beatlesmania" era. In fact, considerable tumults and accidents occurred both at the airport, where the Beatles landed at 2am, and even during the concerts.
The Beatles "Sam Houston Coliseum, Houston (Texas) August 19, 1965" Bulldog Records BGCD-034 From the Barry Miles book, "The Beatles - A Diary": August 18 [1965] - Their plane arrived at Houston Airport at 2am, having left Atlanta immediately after the gig. Local police had made no arrangements and fans swarmed out onto the runway as the plane taxied in to the terminal. Fans began climbing over the plane before it had even stopped moving, some of them smoking cigarettes next to the plane's fuel tanks. The group and Brian Epstein were unable to leave the plane until a forklift truck arrived for them. The Beatles played two sets to a total of 25,000 fans at Sam Houston Coliseum. They were restrained performances in very hot weather with complete chaos backstage and no dressing room facilities. The group travelled to and from the show by armoured van.
