Tech NoteRehearsal -- SBD>MR>?>DAT>CDR>EAC>Cool Edit 2000 (dehissing)>CDSpinDoctor (Realizer)>SoundEdit16 (cleanup and normalizing)>WAVTool (sector alignment)>SHN Live Set -- SBD>MR>?>DAT>CDR>DAE>SoundEdit16 (cleanup, pitch shift, amplify, merge)>WAVTool>SHN Notes Rehearsal: 1. The duplicate analog transfer of the Wall Song was eliminated and the remaining portions matched for pitch and pieced together. 2. Tracks were segmented into logical divisions. 3. Although portions of this set received carefull dehissing and sweetening, some "breathing" and dehissing artifacts remain from the original sources. Notes Live set: 1. Track divisions were cleaned up and merged to better reflect a live show. 2. The entire live set was raised in pitch one half step. 3. Cowboy Movie was pieced together from two flawed sources to include the introduction notes, but not the single channel dropouts later on. Note on the date: Jerry Garcia & Friends were advertised at the Matrix on December 15, 16 &17, but Crosby is thought to have played only the 15th and 16th. During the Microphone Rap, Crosby asks someone to "put limiters on it. I overblew their mics last night." This comment suggests that the Rehearsal portion dates to December 16. Later, at the very end of Cowboy Movie rehearsal segment, Crosby says, "wanna learn something new?" That question is followed by the Wall Song, which also was performed during the live section. This appears to indicate that the Live portion also derives from December 16. The date 1970-12-15 has been used for the SHN track naming because this show has long circulated under that date.
