“Spanish Harlem 74†Kivak Master Series 1974 Volume 3 October 18, 1974 The Capitol Theater Passaic, NJ Cassette>CD>CD Wave Editor/Roxio/Magix>flac This one was a challenge to say the least. The original master recording had degraded in scattered spots with tape warp as my biggest enemy. I corrected the pitch, which only seemed to be a problem on disc one. There were lots of little glitches, which I managed to remove and did the usual EQ, fades and transition fades so the songs would flow from track to track. There was nothing I could do about the tape warp, which you’ll hear in a few spots of “Incidentâ€, “Spiritâ€, “Does This Bus Stop…†and “Kittyâ€. You’ll hear some rough spots on other songs, where I removed glitches, but overall the energy and performance outweighs the imperfections. “Spanish Harlem†is one of the highlights along with a different arrangement of Jungleland. Bruce dedicates “Spirit In The Night†to John Sebastian who was also on the card, along with Dan Fogleberg. According to BruceBase “A Love So Fine†is cut, but this one sounds complete. So, I’m wondering if there was another source for this show that had originally circulated. I would like to hear how this compares to the version that circulated years ago. Despite the tape warp, I hope this makes for a better sounding show. Mr Anonymous and Fanatic Records proudly bring you another installment of the Kivak Master Series! |
