Note | Nicely shot show with at least two cameras and good crisp video. The sound is also very clean, with only one quick audio dropout to speak of. There is even a title menu for this one. The only downside is the show itself. This is by far the worst period for GWAR (I once interviewed Beefcake, and even he called the material from this era "bullshit"), and the stage antics are REALLY lame on this round. Worse, the band seems to know that they're touring behind a mostly awful record, so this is a very low energy affair. The setlist is loaded with clunkers (there are actually a few great tunes on We Kill Everything; it's too bad the band skips those and plays bullshit like Tune From Da Moon and Jiggle The Handle instead). Letting Slymenstra handle vocals was the worst idea the band ever had, and her parts are simply embarassing (My Girly Ways is most assuredly the shittiest song in the band's catalog). I'm not trying to be mean. I honestly love GWAR, and have since the Scumdogs days. But even the most ardent fan must admit that the band went through a rough spell. This is that rough spell caught on tape, and only the most forgiving GWAR fanatic will get any use out of this. If that's you, this is an excellent quality show. But anyone casually curious about getting some live GWAR stuff should definately skip this one. |
