Note | On same disc as 09/04/92. Audience shot outdoors in front of Tower Records. Nice filming with plenty of close-ups of everyone. The sound is clean, but whoever did this tried to soften up the sound during the actual songs, so they're mastered a lot quieter than the banter between tunes. There are also some cuts between tracks. Despite this, the show is very enjoyable. It's actually quite surreal to see Sonic Youth playing in the parking lot of a chain record store (Kim is visibly not happy about this). Also note the Bad Company and Nelson (!?) billboards behind them. The disc is worth watching just to see Thurston distributing donuts before the show (he makes this far more entertaining than it sounds). Plus, he's wearing a Hole shirt tucked into white jeans, so this is a great time capsule for 1990. Not essential, but I enjoyed it very much. |
