comments:
this is a complete and pretty decent recording
(except a couple of seconds for a tape flip)
of Last Exit's last Johnny D's concert. I have
never heard the 1st one but was told it ran about an hour
(slightly shorter than this set). I had to "monoize" this
because the other channel had a connection problem all through
the show. the right channel only had a few problems, most is quite
listenable and anyone who heard the raw cassette copy version of this
(the only one available from this recording until now) is going to
find this a considerably smoother listen, while still not perfect,
it is now gapless, clipless and pegless (I won't upload anything that
isn't all of those.) which really helps with this kind of music
(or any kind). the sound is pretty good, Johnny D's is a nice place
with good sound, not too big. Even though it's called "Restaurant a
nd Lounge", they have had lots of good concerts there for a long time.
this is the first time this recording has ever been posted by me or
from this master recording. Apparently Last Exit only played a few
U.S. shows before making a far too quick last exit. Too bad, they are
one of the better "avant-garde" jazz groups I've heard including
this, my only time seeing them. The overall mix might be better
if it came out as stereo recording, but you can still hear everyone.
Do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.
and may this NOT be the last we hear
of Last Exit on the dime.
(because they are quite good).
