Tech NoteGRATEFUL DEAD - 03-13-1981 Memorial Auditorium Utica NY Set 2 d1t01 - Cold Rain & Snow d1t02 - Samson & Delilah d1t03 - It Must Have Been The Roses d1t04 - Estimated Prophet > d1t05 - Eyes of the World > d1t06 - Drums > d2t01 - Space > d2t02 - Lost Sailor > d2t03 - Saint of Circumstance > d2t04 - Wharf Rat > d2t05 - Sugar Magnolia Source: Soundboard of unknown lineage. Transfer: Old cassette > Sony TC-D5M > Soundblaster > WAV > Soundforge > CD-Wave > TLH v.1.0.0.72 (for SBE-fix, checksums, and FLAC compression). Jim Wise's AUD (Sen 421's > Sony D-5) provides the following patches: Eyes of the World, 6:45 to 7:17 Sugar Magnolia, 5:51 to 6:04 Sugar Magnolia, 8:52 to 9:25 This tape was almost too far gone to work on, but since the show is one of the great ones from '81, and no SBD has circulated, well, here it is. Soundforge was used for numerous operations: corrected the pitch by slowing it down by 0.9 semitones, removed some hiss, repaired dropouts, made fades, cross-faded the AUD patches, and numerous other repairs. Note that the 266-MB overall file size is small due to the mono wav data, and is not due to any mp3 or lossy compression. The break between discs is seamless for reassembly onto longer media. Thanks again to Jake Feinberg for digging deep into his cassette collection. March 2006 -- ENJOY!
