Note | "Secret Gig" silver. Nice clean audience recording, but definately not the best performance you'll hear. First off, the Jack Irons years were by far the band's weakest live period, and this show is no exception to that. Jack just isn't good, so the tunes are a bit flat. Secondly, and more troubling, Eddie sounds pretty wasted here, so his voice isn't that great throughout. Show improves as it goes on (and he sobers up?), but from start to finish, this one's far from classic. The older songs fare better than the (at that time brand new) No Code material, but there are still a lot of flubs along the way, and the band just doesn't have their usual fire. For completists only. |
