MHD to Shoot Original High-Definition Concert Series at Breckenridge Ullr Fest
January 4, 2006 - 10:43 AM

By COskiing News

NEW YORK, New York and BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado — MHD, the new HDTV music television network launching on January 16, today announced an original series of live concert specials shooting January 11 and 12 in Breckenridge, Colorado. Entitled "Music With Altitude," the concert specials featuring Dashboard Confessional, country superstar Gary Allan, Goo Goo Dolls and up-and-coming recording artist and reality television star Cheyenne Kimball will be shot during Ullr Fest, an annual week-long Winter festival in Breckenridge.

The concerts will be staged at the Riverwalk Center and tickets are free to the public. A limit of four tickets per person will be available beginning Friday, January 6th at the Breckenridge Activity Center at 137 S. Main Street beginning at 9:00AM or by calling 877-864-0868. Tickets can also be obtained through Breckenridge's and MHD's local and Denver-area promotional partners.

The "Music With Altitude" concerts will be directed by Alex Coletti and produced by Jen Jones. Coletti, producer of the Grammy-nominated "Unplugged: Alicia Keys," has been at the helm of several MTV music franchises and recently entered into an expanded development deal with MTV Networks Music Group. Jeff Jacobs and Morgan Hertzan will serve as Executive Producers and Peter Baron is Executive in Charge.

"With the party atmosphere of Ullr Fest buzzing around Breckenridge and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains providing a spectacular background, these concerts truly embrace what MHD is all about – combining great music, great visuals and high def in a way that only MTV Networks can do," said Peter Baron, Executive in Charge of "Music With Altitude" and Vice President, Label Relations, MTV/MTV2. "The mix of artists on stage gives Ullr Fest visitors and MHD viewers a great blend of country, rock and pop, truly reflecting the MTV, VH1 and CMT heritage of our exciting new HDTV channel."

No stranger to the country music charts, Gary Allan's Top 10 hits "Her Man" and "It Would Be You" firmly established his place amongst the ranks of country music's most popular male artists. In 1999, Allan released Smoke Rings in the Dark and the album turned platinum thanks to the title track as well as the single "Right Where I Need To Be". Following a string of #1 hits on country radio, his newest album, Tough All Over, hit stores in October 2005 and hit #1 on the Billboard Top Country Album chart, and his most recent single, "Best I Ever Had," peaked at #5. "Music With Altitude: Gary Allan" shoots Wednesday, January 11 at 6:30PM and is scheduled to air on Saturday, February 4 at 9:00PM (ET).

Rock 'n' roll originals the Goo Goo Dolls have earned a worldwide following one hit single, one chart topping album, and one sold out concert at a time. Along the way, members Johnny Rzeznik (guitar, vocals), Robby Takac (bass) and Mike Malinin (drums) have made music that defines an era. Multi-platinum sales, Grammy nominations and countless live tours since their breakout 1995 album A Boy Named Goo, the Goo Goo Dolls are preparing the follow-up to Gutterflower with an eight studio album. In September 2004, the band released "Better Days," the first single from the much-anticipated album, and it soon became an anthem for the relief campaign for the displaced victims along the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. "Music With Altitude: Goo Goo Dolls" will shoot on Thursday, January 12 at 3:30pm and is scheduled to air on Saturday, February 25 at 9:00PM (ET).

Lead singer/songwriter Chris Carrabba heads up Dashboard Confessional, the alternative and chart-topping rock group from Boca Raton, Florida who are prepping a new album release for Spring 2006. Molding simple acoustics with passionate wordplay, Dashboard's hit "Screaming Infidelities" put them on the mainstream map and won them the MTV2 award at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. The band, which also includes drummer Mike Marsh, guitarist Johnny Leffler and bassist Scott Schoenbeck, has toured globally with U2 and released A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar in 2003. "Music With Altitude: Dashboard Confessional" shoots Thursday, January 12 at 6:30PM and is scheduled to air Saturday, March 18 at 9:00PM (ET).

Also featured in this cycle of production of "Music With Altitude" at Breckenridge is Cheyenne Kimball, the star of a soon-to-premiere reality show on MHD's sister channel, MTV. The series "Cheyenne" will document the journey and drama that unfolds as Cheyenne takes the next step in her music career with the hope of becoming a major rock star. Cheyenne may have been crowned as America's Most Talented Kid at the tender age of ten, which assisted in boosting her career from a talented small town girl to a national music prodigy; but her success in the next step of her career can make all the difference. "Music With Altitude: Cheyenne" will shoot Wednesday afternoon, January 11 and premiere closer to the premiere date of the MTV series.

There will be a compilation episode of "Music With Altitude" featuring performances from all four of the artists appearing at Breckenridge. "Music With Altitude: MHD in Breckenridge" will premiere Saturday, March 11 at 9:00PM (ET).

"Music With Altitude" is sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric, the charter sponsor for MHD.

MHD will embrace the musical sensibilities of MTV Networks Music Group's MTV, VH1 and CMT brands and feature multiple genres – rock, country, pop, hip hop, reggaeton, soul and more – to cover the full spectrum of music enthusiasts. The channel will feature original music based programming as well as HDTV acquisitions and original content from the MTV, VH1, and CMT family of services including popular series such as MTV Unplugged, MTV2 $2 Bill concerts, VH1 Storytellers and CMT Crossroads, as well as network specials including the MTV Video Music Awards and the CMT Music Awards. Vail Mountain is the 2006 official studio headquarters of MHD with a custom-built studio completed in December 2005 and located at 10,350 feet above sea level on top of Vail Mountain's Eagle's Nest.

Distribution details for MHD and a full programming schedule will be announced closer to launch.
